Clinton signed the NAFTA and dear ole Bush signed CAFTA

No, because Washington and has their hands deep in the pockets of business overseas.

Forget a new fuel, too! USA is bedfellows with the Middle East!

  4. Tax breaks for corporations that hire locally. This should be pushed through an act of congress. I believe most politicians support such things. Maybe the perk needs to be increased. I dont mind paying more taxes in order fulfill the perk.

  5. The American consumer always has the option of buying the $50 made-in-the-USA shirt vs. the $20 made in Guatemala shirt… regardless of who the President is.

  7. If you are looking for the President to bring you jobs, answer this question: did the President bring your homework to school? No? Then you know where the responsibility lies with you (everyone) getting well paying jobs.

  9. no

most of the jobs being done in those places are at such poor wages that you couldn’t make ends meet here in America.

the jobs you want a President to bring to America are things like building energy production facilities [the jobs can't be exported if the facility is here, now can they?] and infrastructure here.

  10. Because the cost of labor is higher in the US I doubt if anyone elected president will be able to bring the jobs back to the US.

I currently live in Australia (but am American citizen) and they recently opened up trading agreements and what I found is that even though the products they are selling were cheaper to make because they were being made in Asia or Central America or Mylasia, the retailers are still asking rediculously high prices and the cost savings has not been advantageous to anyone but the retailer because they have higher profits.

  11. Ther is no telling what they would do. They will tell you everything you want to hear to get elected, then do whatever they want.

This is a double edged sword. Bringing jobs back is a great idea, but since we have a minimum wage law, the price of everything would dramatically increase.

I personally don’t want to pay $7 for a pair of socks, or $50 for an air filter. People don’t realize we have put ourselves in this posoition

  12. NAFTA and CAFTA are indeed bad managed trade agreements that are responsible for jobs leaving the U.S. There is another component that is usually ignored though. That is the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve. The U.S. dollar has been heavily inflated. Much of the new money goes first to the financial services industry. As a result, salaries to "while collar" occupations have shot up. At the same time, this monetary inflation has artificially lowered demand for manufacturing occupations.

In a stable money economy, I think that the U.S. would still employ a lot more manufacturing jobs.

To answer your question, I don’t think that the next president will bring jobs back to the U.S. Not enough people understand the factors that contributed to the situation to make serious change a talking point.

  13. The only way that would happen is to do away with unions and make minimum wage to $2.00 and hour

  14. To spock: How do you generate enough revenue to build the infrastructure. Sorry but sounds like you think things only halfway through. The private sector makes jobs possible for ppl like you through taxation by government entities. Without the private sector, your jobs go away as well. its one area i believe we need to seriously cut back on anyways. Not cost effective.

  15. I asked this same question months ago, literally almost a million jobs have gone too third world countries over the past ten years and now the government wants to know why their are tens of thousands of foreclosure’s and nobody can afford to buy cars or much of anything else.I agree with you and the sad truth is I don’t believe its going to get any better no matter who’s running this country.Like McCain said those jobs are gone forever.
