Can your internet slowing down affect the speed of your computer?
I’m pretty computer illiterate, so I’d like it if someone could explain this to me simply. I have high speed internet through my cable company, and it has a download limit. If I download more than my quota for the month, my internet will start to slow down.
Does this mean that if I download more than my allotted amount of stuff, that even if my C drive is fairly empty (about 1/5 full), my whole computer will slow down?
No.. Haha, I think you’ve got it all wrong.
Ok, your internet provider (the cable company) have set a limit on the amount of megabytes (or gigabytes) of information your computer can recieve. More than likely, if you exceed that quota, you’ll be charged an extra fee. However, I’m not sure in the case of this cable company, they may be able to slow down your speed once you go over this limit. But… generally this limit is very high, around 30-1000 GB. which most people don’t usually tend to go over. Seeming you’re computer illerate, I don’t say you’d be downloading any massive files. But.. say you do go over this limit for some reason.. unless you have a REALLY REALLY old computer, once you download a lot of information, your computer will not slow down. The internet connection is a whole different system than the whole computing system, and the speed of your connection will not slow down your computer. For example, if you had a slow dial up connection, downloading pictures, music, and opening websites would take a lot longer, but this doesn’t mean your computer is slow, it means that your internet connection is slow. You could have the fastest computer available on the market with a slow internet connection, but the computer will still be fast.
so, basically, No, your whole computer won’t slow down.
