There are certain job resume red flags that hiring managers look into that would elicit an irritated reaction among them. It is important for job applicants to know about them and make sure that they make the necessary adjustments to either address or readily provide explanations for managers and employers to make them understand. No Contact Information

Although it might be quite basic, still many job applicants forget to include a home address or telephone number that managers and employers may be able to contact in case they find some resumes interesting. Deputy Sheriffs and How to Get Deputy Sheriff Job

If you want to obtain a deputy sheriff job, there are many steps you need to take and qualifications you need to meet. Although you don’t need a formal education, you will need to be educated in a different way.

A deputy sheriff protects life and property of individuals and the community for local, state, and even federal criminal laws. This position also enforces traffic laws, county ordinances, and administrative rules set forth by the authorities. This person will provide deterrence, detection and investigation, and apprehension of criminals and suspects.

The requirement for becoming a deputy sheriff is that you need to be at least 21 years of age. You must have a high school diploma or have completed your GED. Some law enforcement departments require a completion of at least an Associate degree in criminal justice or criminal law. Although formal education is not required in some counties, it may set you apart from the rest of the staff if you do have a degree.

There is training you are required to take prior to becoming a sheriff deputy. You will need to attend a sheriff deputy training academy in your area. When you put in your application for a sheriff position and are selected, you will be sent to this academy.

In the academy, you will learn about the duty of a law enforcement officer, investigating crimes, and apprehending law violators. Upon completion, you will receive a required certificate. Then you will work under a mentor at the sheriff’s department.

Applying to become a deputy sheriff requires that you pass many examinations. You will need to pass a complete background check. You must not have any previous felonies or any crimes on your record that are deemed serious. You must be able to pass a polygraph test and take a psychological evaluation.

A tour of the entire law enforcement facility will be given to you along with interview conducted by many staff members. Some of the departments or sheriff’s offices will even give you a written exam.

A medical exam is common for you to pass because if you are chasing criminals you need to be fit for the position. If you are not fit enough for the position and you have a heart attack, the sheriff’s department doesn’t want to be liable for this. This is why your physical shape is very important.

When you apply for a sheriff’s department deputy, it is important that you understand the job description and the requirements for the position. This way, you can make sure you gather the necessary requirements for the job.

Know the Corporate Culture When Interviewing For a Job

It is often said that going to party dressed wrong or inappropriately will not get you the date. So it is with seeking gainful employment through job interviews, interviewing and the whole interview, employment and career seeking game or procedure. How you present yourself may well determine whether or not you will or will get the job proposal or whether or not you will or will not be offered the position at the firm or organization.

Differences in “Corporate Culture” and what might be called “value systems” can well determine whether or not a certain personal style or profile will be acceptable. What goes at a major corporation in terms of skills and job traits may not be the skills that are preferred say as a night manager at a halfway house for former convicts or other persons of similar traits.

Good interview strategy would entail that you must first find out something about the culture of the organization of the culture in which you hopefully will be working in and with, and what traits, characteristics and behaviors that are desired, preferred. Corporate and business cultures generally hire those that have the attitudes and mindsets that they like and feel most comfortable with.

In essence you will take sample and determine the “cultural temperature” of the business or organization long before your arrival at the interview meeting site or room. If you are fortunate enough to have people or contacts “on the inside” this is easier. If not you can even be at arms length through contacts one step away. Interestingly with the networking available through modern communication networks and the internet, social networking services such as “Linkedin” are now providing this function of networking with insiders of companies in an easier and more sophisticated 21’st century means and manner. With such a social networking service such as Linkedin you can more easily and quickly stay informed about your chosen industry, its people and its trends. As well you can more easily find the contact people and the strategic information that you need for your purposes. Why not take full advantage of such services to accomplish your goals.

It can be said and summarized that without some advance insight concerning any organization or business that you are applying for employment with and that organizations preferences for certain characteristics and behaviors. Your chances or succeeding at obtaining successful employment are no better than hitting a bull’s-eye at a hundred paces while blindfolded. Your situation can be like a ship sailing in the fog without a map and navigation balance. You will in essence be flying blind.

How else will you be able to “correctly” answer questions that come your way in an interview setting? By being well prepared with your research information you will in essence be “marketing “yourself successfully. It is not lying in any manner. It’s simply a matter of being able to present the same information in a manner that fulfills the expectations of the questioner in a style and fashion that they want and are looking for.

In the end it can be said that the whole interview process is about matching the right candidate with the right job. But more importantly it’s about you getting that job. Do your homework first, on the corporate culture of any jobs that you are applying for. Do your homework. Be prepared. Its well worth the effort, time and expense when it comes down to that job employment interview.

Choosing the Right Career for the Ideal Job

Many people go into careers and jobs without thinking if this is suited for me or 5 to 10 years later they realize this is not what I expected.

Many individuals spend months or even years not happy with their careers. Some may take any available job while others may follow in their parents footsteps. This may work out for some but many others never discover their true career skills and are dissatisfied with their jobs.

Careful career planning is essential in fulfilling one’s job search that will give years of work enjoyment and satisfaction. If you are going to work it might as well be something you like to do and skilled at doing. Knowing what your skills are and what you are good at is the starting point in choosing the right career.You will unlikely be completely satisfied in your career unless you use the skills you enjoy and are good at.

Ask yourself some questions such as : What interests do I have? What sorts of people would I like to work with?

Don’t confuse an ideal job with a job title. You might enjoy working in one place and hate working in another. Both could have the same job title but be entirely different jobs.

Let’s say you were looking for a job as a sales person or a teacher, these would be job titles. The ideal job within the salesperson category could be in retail sales, real estate, manufacturing sales representatives, car sales, etc. A teacher might teach kindergarten, elementary, middle, or high school students. Or a teacher might teach adults or special need individuals how to read and write. So don’t choose a job just by it’s title but by the different job areas under the title that fits your interests and skills. People are more likely to stay in a career and be successful if it suits their interest and skills.

It would be wise to spend extra time thinking about what type of work you want to do. Some key factors to consider when planning a career is your skills, interests, earnings, location, work environment, kinds of people you like to work with, etc.

You may have to go back to school for more education, but don’t let that hold you back from that ideal job. Education and earnings go hand in hand. The more education you have the more money you are capable of earning. Although earnings are important, liking your work is equally important.

Having a college degree is definitely a plus in career planning, but many trade, technical and other schools offer similar opportunities to individuals without a college degree.

A well trained electrician, plumber, police officer, auto mechanic, computer repair technician, tool and die maker among many others can do very well in todays economy. There are many jobs that only require one or two years of training. Many companies and organizations have on the job training while paying your salary. People in sales, small business, self employment and other job areas do quite well without a college degree, although for better positions more education is often required.

Your career will most likely change over the course of your life no matter how much career planning you do. That makes it important for you to recognize what you are good at and develop those skills throughout your life. As your interests change you may want to develop new skills.

Good career planning is very important, but it should be done in the context of what you want to do with your life.
